I'm supposed to write something inspirational here, but the truth is: I am beyond excited about the launch of our pilot program this fall.
This enterprise is bringing together so many elements that tap into my own sense of adventure and personal conviction about how important it is to address the issues in our world.
My own gap year experience in 2007 changed the course of my life. I always knew helping people would be part of my purpose, but I honestly never realized how many different ways there were to do it. The My World philosophy is about cultivating this sense of ownership of the world and how to best facilitate change, but it's also about finding the convergence of where I belong in it.
It's pretty simple. We need 6 people, 18-25 years old to pilot this program starting in September. This fall the team will live and work in Kansas City going behind the curtain of an urban city center learning about a huge variety of problems and solutions happening right here.
In January, we'll send the team abroad to live in a combination of African and Southeast Asian countries to learn about how these global issues are affected by culture, history, and religion.
We're not just looking for a group to participate, we're looking for them to contribute to refining this vision and making it truly life changing for an entire generation.
I still believe this vision of creating a combination domestic/abroad program that is designed to be inclusive, spiritually grounded, humanitarian focused, adventure-charged, and financially accessible to any income level is one of a kind and I can't wait to get us started.
If you know of someone who's interested, send them to the front page of our website: MyWorldInitiative.com and have them fill out a Quick Application (this isn't the official application, it just puts us in contact to talk more details).
If you're inspired by this vision, follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and spread the word! We can do this together.
